Bigtime Music Manager says Nigerian OAPs Charge Too High To Play Artistes’ Songs
Manager of foremost music company in the country, Premier Music Limited, Michael Odiong, says one of the challenges facing the music industry is the amount being charged by On-Air-Personalities (OAP). According to Odiong, most up and coming artistes find it difficult to break through the industry because they cannot afford to pay the high amount being demanded from them before getting their sings played on air.
Though he praised the rapid growth the music industry is currently experiencing in Nigeria, but he emphasized that OAPs should also help the young artistes’ careers and stop requesting for money to play uncreative songs. Odiong added that though the trend of high charges by OAPs might be saddening, yet there are some professional OAPs that prefer good music to money.
