Discrimination via Osu-caste 'Outcast' is a harbinger of mediocrity, could lead to suicides too
In the previous episode where I cited a reflection or rehash of the causes of Nigeria-Biafra war was enhance us or bring to the fore more insight on the pains, psychological traumas, and even death injustice via discrimination can engender in the lives of these people that are seen as outcasts.
In my pilgrims reflections to this topic of discourse 'Osu Caste' otherwise known as Outcast, it sometimes gets me flabbergasted to realize that this obnoxious act that has infused hate, animosity, and negligence within our human landscape is still in existence. This evil act is the focal point and harbinger of mediocrity, low-self esteem, and sometimes suicide, because anyone that is segregated or discriminated against tend to live in a state of despondency more times in solitary confinement, which overtime have led to suicidal acts; because human beings are not designed to live in isolation, for it is by the healthy interactions of one another in rationality that LIFE is made perfect for us all.
Therefore, I want us the Igbo race to desist from engaging into a fight with ourselves through this act of injustice called Osu caste. Let us see each other as a unique being made by God- whose ultimate nature is "Justice".
We should refrain from inculcating into our young generations the evil of being antagonists to fellow humans, by belittling the other person through this evil called "Osu caste" system or in any other act of evil. We should make ourselves available for the truth that lies within us as people called together by God, so we may shun the fallacy of believing that "Osu caste "is right.
The Igbos must grasp that every act of discrimination whether implicit or explicit engenders Injustice, and injustice is breed mediocrity as well as doldrums which definitely stand as impediment on the path of our human co-existence. We must all see this issue of Osu Caste as a challenge to Christian faith, to human freedom and liberalism and therefore strive very hard to ensure that this moral-killing act is wiped out of our land absolutely.
As we brace up this challenge that is threatening to our peaceful co-existence, unity and true brotherhood, may God Almighty in his JUST Nature grant us the fervour to overcome this evil that has ensued misery in our Igbo land, Amen.
