A fisherman filmed footage of a 14ft long monster on his phone after spotting it close to Falmouth. Experts have now analysed the footage and have ruled out other, less aggressive sharks. The shark was spotted 20 miles out to sea by 44-year-old fisherman Nigel Hodge. His footage was studied by shark expert David Turner, 67, who told The Sun: “The most likely candidate is a great white. "Looking at the shape of the dorsal fin rules out other suspects.

He added: “There was a shark spotted last year by about ten different people from five different boats and that was 14ft long too." Mr Turner said the shark could have been looking for food. Earlier this year, a great white called Lydia was tracked heading towards the Cornish coastline. The 2,000lb deadly fish covering more than 200 miles in just three days as she headed towards Britain. The 4.4m fish was tagged with a fitted tracking device when she was caught in Florida last year by charity Ocearch - meaning she could be pinpointed every time her fin breaks the ocean surface. However, she was eventually spotted heading in a westerly direction away from the British Isles.
