We knew erosion was a problem for the famous folks who own properties in the exclusive Malibu Colony community, but after flying over the area on Thursday afternoon, it looks like dozens of the beachfront homes are about to be swept into the Pacific Ocean! Just look at CelebDigs.com's exclusive photos -- the waves were literally crashing over the balconies and onto the decks and yards of every single property!
Malibu Colony is one of the most desirable neighborhoods on the Southern California coast, and residents like Tom Hanks, Sting and Diana Ross are all in danger of losing their multi-million dollar homes to the forces of nature. Leonardo DiCaprio previously owned a home in the gated community, but fortunately he sold his estate late last year for $17 million. Pamela Anderson's beachfront Colony pad has been on and off the market over the years for around $8 million, and last year she was desperately trying to rent the place out.
The Colony is conveniently located right across the Pacific Coast Highway from Malibu Country Mart, and seeing as there's a guarded gate at the entrance and a police station at the Colony's west end, it's virtually impossible for tourists and looky-loos to get in.
While the beach in front of most of the stars' homes is public, you can't trespass on their property to get there, and seeing as there are just a few public access-ways to the sand, it generally remains quiet and private. But seeing as the sand is essentially gone and the sea level is rising every year, it doesn't really make a difference at this point...
