Kate Middleton is 'too thin' and 'shouldn't have any more children,' says Germaine Greer

Pregnancy: Greer says Kate should stop at two children

Controversial feminist Germaine Greer says Kate Middleton is 'too thin' and shouldn't have any more children. In an extraordinary attack on the Royal Family she said Kate, 32, had a “b*****d of a job” because she had been “put in charge of William.” Greer said Kate, who is pregnant with her second child, is “not allowed to have an interest in modern culture”. Quoted in Newsweek the 75 year-old Australian author of bestseller, The Female Eunuch, described the Royal Family as a "mad anachronism."She added that Kate is a great deal more intelligent than the rest of the royals.

However, referring to the Duchess of Cambridge's pregnancy, which has been punctuated by severe morning sickness, she said: “The girl is too thin. I would hope after this one she says, ‘That’s it. No more." Kate, who is thought to be in the ninth week of her pregnancy, suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum, which landed her in hospital while carrying George. The condition affects about three in 20 pregnancies but is more rare in its extreme form where the sufferer is admitted to hospital or has the condition throughout pregnancy. It is much more serious than the nausea which is commonly experienced by expectant mothers.

Hyperemesis gravidarum is thought to be caused by elevated levels of the “pregnancy hormone” human chorionic gonadotropin, which naturally increases after conception.
Kate is reported to have said she would ideally like to have three children. Greer described Kate as stifled in the same way as the “surrendered wives” of fundamentalist religious sects. She said: “Kate is not even allowed to decorate her own houses. Even the wives of the American presidents get to do that. The whole thing is a mad anachronism.

Germaine Greer Germaine Greer dared to start a fight with Katie Price

“The ‘firm’ tell us that the first born will now become the monarch regardless of sex. Well, big f****** deal!” Greer claimed Kate was constrained despite achieving above average grades of two As and a B at A-level plus a 2:1 in Art History from St Andrew’s University. Greer, speaking to Newsweek, said: “Kate is not allowed to have an interest in modern culture, even in art – to collect, to attend openings. She is made to appear absolutely anodyne. She cannot do or say anything spontaneous.

“She has learned what she has to do and say and how to do and say it in the approved way. Spontaneity will get her in trouble.” Greer added that Kate’s role reflected a wider problem for women. She said: “Women still have very little power. They still have to become men. They can’t make real things happen for themselves in the workplace. Newsweek also ran a YouGov poll which found only one in 100 British women would swap places with the Duchess. She was found to be the fourth most popular royal behind top choice Prince Harry, the Queen and the Duke of Cambridge.
