Graphic image: the vehicle that was caught with fire at Lagos/Ibadan Expressway
The report I gathered right about now has it that a vehicle plying along Lagos/Ibadan expressway was yesterday caught with fire, resulting to the death of a pregnant woman, a baby and about six other passengers who were in that vehicle before the arrival of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency TRACE.
This incident which occurred around 3:30pm, was said to have involved an 18-seater commuter bus painted in white color, with blue stripes suddenly developed leakages on the fuel tank that led to the spilling of the the premium motor spirit, as the car was moving; but a passenger was said to have noticed the spark from the engine, and immediately raised the alarm that prompted the driver of the vehicle to apply some brakes abruptly so as to ascertain the cause of the spark.
According to aye witnesses, before the passengers could vacate the vehicle , the fire had already caused the door locks to get jammed, which then led to some of the passengers who hadn't already made their way out, to get stucked and they got burnt beyond recognition.
Even as some officials of the TRACE who were rushing to the scene of the accident were apprehended by some hoodlums on the way and they were brutally handled and as such couldn't be allowed to arrive at the scene on time. As at the time of this report the bodies of the dead passengers, as well as the injured ones were already taken to the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital OSUTH, Sagamu.
