Female Police In Indonesia Must Go Through A 'Virginity Test'

Indonesian female police members

It was reported that every female police in the Indonesian Police force must be subjected to a virginity test before such a person can be certified eligible to be a member of that unit. According to the Human Rights Watch, they have been fighting this for some to make sure that it's removed from their constitution. It is stated that female police makes just 3% of the Indonesia's Police force, and yet they are subjected to go through this virginity test before they can be recruited in the police, it is sad.

From the Indonesian police recruitment website, it was said that;  ‘All women who want to become policewomen should keep their virginity."

Some girl  that have gone through this test has this to say to the Human Rights Watch [HRW] below

"I feared that after they performed the test I would not be a virgin any more. It really hurt. My friend even fainted because … it really hurt, really hurt.’

At the moment, the HRW revealed that they are working with the Indonesian government to get this practice abolished.
