Marion S. Barry Jr., former Washington Mayor dies at 78
The news that just got to my desk now has it that Marion S. Barry Jr, the former Mayor of Washington is dead. He died yesterday at the United Medical Center in the Southeast of Washington, at age 78, a family source confirms.
Marion Barry went through a prostrate cancer surgery in 1995, and a kidney transplant in 2009, and also had diabetes , anemia and high blood pressure, and all these would have contributed to his death at this time. Just 6-months ago, his autobiography was released titled 'Mayor of Life; The Incredible Story of Marion Barry Jr.
He was elected Mayor for four-times, and until his death he worked as an elected official at the District of Columbia Council in the Southeast Washington. He was quite a dogged and hard-working.
