House Of Representatives Is ready To Take-Over Functions From Ekiti-State Assembly Over Crisis

Dr Adewale Omirin, Speaker Ekiti State House of Assembly

The Federal House of Representatives has earlier declared interest that it shall wade in over the crisis rocking the Ekiti-state Assembly as soon as it reconvenes on the 3rd of December, 2014.

It stated this on the last plenary session, because the crisis in the Ekiti-state Assembly is taking a dramatic turn, and as an upper house, the constitution empowers the House of Reps to take over of all legislative affairs from any state assembly in the case of uncontrolled fracas or problems just it's been seen presently in Ekiti state.

This crisis in Ekiti state is as result of party differences, between the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) and its strong opposition, All Progressive Congress (APC). The embattled Speaker of the Ekiti-state House of Assembly 'Hon Adewale Omirin'  is an APC member, and because the newly elected Governor 'Ayo Fayoshe's is a PDP member, then, the few PDP members in the House decided to walk and hide under the executive powers of the Governor to seize hold of the state's Assembly, by automatically appointing a new Speaker under the PDP political platform, and according to the Nigerian constitution, this is wrong, since it's not in accordance with the unanimous Will of the House  members based on majority.

Meanwhile, I shall update you more with any recent developments on this, but for now, the House of Assembly in Ekiti-state is divided into two factions, of APC and PDP, while the majority of the Assembly members still maintain that the Speaker is Adewale Omirin
