The governor of Abia State, Dr TA Orji, has confirmed his readiness to build an airport as one of the landmark projects of his administration. He said that since Aba is the commercial hub of the South East geopolitical zone, it is necessary that an airport should sited there so as to boost the investment and trade within the state and its environs.
The governor made this known through the his Special Adviser on Public Communication, Mr Ben Onyechere, that even though Sam Mbakwe Airport Owerri as well as the Port Harcourt airport is in close sight, but that would not deter him from ensuring that Abia State has it own airport, as it will not only assist the people living in the state, rather it will also ensure a smooth running of businesses, around the South East zone, through interconnectivity of the airports.
It will also create employment and enabling environment for foreign and local investors to establish viable and robust businesses in Abia State and its neighbouring states too.
