Ohaneze Ndigbo Appoints Interim Leadership Following Court Sacking Of President

The Ohaneze Ndigbo, an apogee of a socio-political group of the Igbo race in Nigeria, was yesterday appointed few members from their midst to mount the saddle of leadership affairs of the organisation as interim government, until a suitable ground can be made available come next year for the selection/election of those who will lead the group.


This move was being taken, following the internecine feud that has for some time now existed within this organization, which then led to them seeking for resolution through the eye of the law. On this note, the Judge of the High Court sitting in Enugu, Justice R.O Odugu, then gave a court injunction restricting Chief Amaechi and his cabinets from carrying on as the leaders of the group.

It was upon this order, that the Ohaneze Ndigbo, then appointed a 19-member committee, which comprises of the the 5 states of the South East geopolitical zone, Rivers State and Anioma in Delta state all from the South-South geopolitical zone.



In that meeting where the members came to a unanimous stance to appoint these 19 persons, among those that were in attendance are; His Royal Highness Laz Ekwueme, Senator Of­fia Nwali, Dr. Jumbo Offor, Dr. Zed Chukwujama, Chief Nduka Eya, and Prof. Elo Amuchezi,Chief Chekwas Okorie, for­mer Anambra State governor, Dr. Chris Ngige, Chief Enechi Onyia (SAN), Prof. Ukwu I Ukwu, Chief Ralph Obioha- United Peoples Party (UPP) Presidential candidate and other members too.

This committee shall began work effectively on January, 7th of 2015.
