Over 35 Persons Confirmed Dead As Burundi Army Clashes With Armed Rebel Group

Burundi Soldiers clashed with armed rebels, with over 35 persons confirmed dead

It sad to note that over 35 persons have been feared dead in a clash between the Burundi army and a group of unidentified armed rebel.


This uprising took place very close to the borderline of Burundi and Democratic Republic of Congo, and that a Burundian soldier was among the victims that died in the violent attack.

According to close source, this attack resulted because of the intrusion of over 200 rebels from Congo DR into the Cibitoke Province, north of the Capital city of Burundi, Bujumbura on Monday night, and the security forces began waging war against them to prevent then from gaining full entrance into the territory.

So far the bodies that have been recovered are 35 including one Burundi soldier who was confirmed  to have also died in the fight. Meanwhile, security operatives are said to be carrying out search around the neighborhoods where the violence took place to see if there are still rebels hiding there.
