General Babangida Says His Administration Was Corruption Free #GoodGovernance

Retired General IBB

Many people would be thinking that this General, who ruled Nigeria for sometime as a military dictator is not in the country following his silence over the many issues which the nation has faced for sometime now, even to an extent that he hasn't even shown any slight interest in the politics of who governs the country. Several Nigerians would have expected that he would be interested in contesting for the seat of the president since his former colleague Buhari has always been at the front line at every given time of general elections seeking for this position.

Fortunately this  man has decided to break the silence and speak out in the face of the troubles enveloping the country. General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida,IBB (Rtd)  has weighed the past and present leaderships in the country since after his exit from office of the Presidency as a military dictator, and have come to the conclusion that his administration can be said to be the best amongst them all.

This was revealed in the latest edition of the Economic and Financial Crimes quarterly magazine, Zero Tolerance, and he affirmed that the level of corruption which the past administrators as well as the present has earthed are so tremendous, that he then arrogates to his own administration to be the best of them all.

IBB alleged that his administration did everything to manage the economy quite well that there was enough fiscal capital of about $7 billion left in the nation's treasury even with the little revenue that was generated from the oil as at then, unlike the huge proceeds the oil yields in this present days.

Retired General IBB in his statement on Vanguard News, “ I give you an example, in a year; I was making less than $7 billion in oil revenue but in the same period there were governments that were making between $200 billion and $300 billion. With $7 billion, I did the best I could but with $200 billion there is still a lot to be achieved. I don’t have all the facts but if what I read in the papers is what is currently happening, then I think we were saints.”

The retired General talked on other issues such as the annulment of the June 12 election and also talked about the building of Third Mainland Bridge and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, where the Presidency is situated today.
