US Secretary of State, John Kerry with President Goodluck Jonathan
Just yesterday in Abuja, while President Jonathan was receiving the US Secretary of State, John Kerry, Mr Jonathan affirmed that the May 29, which is the usual date scheduled for the handover of political powers to the newly elected ones remains unchanged.
President Jonathan stated that the FG is committed towards ensuring that all the resources needed for the successful execution of the election exercise is provided so there wouldn't be any breach in the electoral process.
Mr President also averred that Nigeria's armed forces and some other neighbouring West African countries like Chad, Benin Republic, Cameroun, and Niger are making concerted efforts to tackle the challenge of insecurity which the Boko Haram terrorist is posing.
He further said that Nigeria has for a very long time maintained a cordial relationship with the US both in bilateral trade, democratical initiatives and Human rights values more than any other country within the African enclave.
On the side of INEC, Jonathan maintained that it has an independent authority to make and carry out its resolutions without any form of intrusion by individual or government.
