Latest News: Britain To Contribute $50 million To IMF Over Ebola Fund Relief #EVD

On Monday, the 9th February 2015, Britain made it known through its Finance Minister, George Osborne, that it shall be contributing 50 million United States dollars to the International Monetary Fund relief fund aimed at assisting the West African countries that were worst hit by Ebola virus disease.


Mr Osborne said the IMF's Catastrophe Containment and Relief Trust was launched last week which is to assist the three West African countries, Liberia and Sierra Leone and Guinea that were badly affected by Ebola, take care of the financial debts which may have arose due the epidemic  for the est two years.

George Osborne said, I am delighted to provide 50 million dollars of critical resources to enable these countries to spend less money servicing their debt and more on public health interventions that will help save lives.
“Let it be on record that Britain is the first country to pledge cash to the new fund.’’

Through hos words, it is confirmed that British nation is concerned about the devastating state of this countries which came as result of this deadly ebola virus, and henceforth decided to render this financial assistance to them.
