From the report gathered so far, it has shown that the removal of the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega which has been causing great tension all over the social media and and other broadcasting outfits for the past 48 hours was mere rumours.
This was confirmed following the statement made yesterday by the National Security Adviser, NSA in which he reiterated the rife in rumour spreading by some group of people in the country, especially some politicians, stating that it is only a tool to incite violence, and they should endeavor to keep off from such acts which may heat up the polity.
He furthermore said that various calls have been entertained by several Nigerians who have been wanting to know if the news about INEC's boss , Jega is really true. He affirmed that this unverified talks could only be coming from the All Progressive Congress' APC, camp.
The presidential source made it known to all Nigerians that the rumours making rounds about the proposed sacking of Jega was only a propaganda to discredit the President and create a bad image of him before the entire nation and international community.
According to the statement credited to the source on Vanguard news, it read thus;
“The laws are clear about the question of leaving or not leaving and government has nothing to do with that. The man has a job to do and please allow him to do the job without dragging government into it and the man working under the rule of law.
“This is the government that has been obeying the rule of law and is not going to abandon its adherence to it. Please, they should allow Professor Jega to do his work and stop heating up the polity.”
