UN Resolved To Provide Peace Keeping Base Ready To Nigeria #FightAgainstTerrorism

The United Nations UN, yesterday in Abuja, the federal territory made its promise to Nigeria that it shall be making readily a peace-keeping base of its troops to Nigeria for the fight against Boko Haram Islamist terrorists.


This was made known  by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Nigeria and West Africa, Mr. Ibn Chambas, after meeting with President Jonathan at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Speaking to Journalists, he assured Nigerians of the UN's preparedness to render peace keeping support to the Nigerian nation, so that with the many troops that have been resolved to be deployed into the country by five West African countries, Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Benin and Nigeria, that  they may be able to function excellently and fight the Boko Haram insurgency effectively as one body with the image of the United Nations being the foundation.

In his words, n this, you can count on the strong support of the United Nations. The Secretary General wishes to assure that in the area of humanitarian support with the displaced persons in Nigeria, we will continue to work with Nigerian authorities.
“The Secretary-General expresses strong support in the fight against Boko Haram. The sect is not a threat only to Nigeria or the region, but indeed is an international issue, and requires full international support in the same way the fight is taken against Al-Shabab, ISIS and AQIM, in North Mali.


He also commended the Federal government and the political parties on the peaceful atmosphere through which the primary elections were held, and called on Nigerians never to be disappointed over the sudden postponement of the general elections. He said that it is in the interest of the nation, so that the citizens who are eligible to vote and have not gotten their Permanent Voters Cards can do so without any difficulty, to enable them exercise their franchise in the forthcoming polls.
