Reports reaching me has it that the British Prime Minister David Cameron had a photo shot that was aimed at spiking controversy within the English nation, as he the dynamic and happy Prime Minister was spotted smiling in the midst of White-English people that painted their faces black as they dance in the street for the Banbury Folk Festival that was celebrated in Oxfordshire during the weekend.
Mr David Cameron seen here carrying his daughter, and was smiling in the photo pose, showing his support and happiness over this dancers who are seen gathering all around him.
According to the statement to the Daily Telegraph by "Martin de Vine", who is the founder and Squire of the Foxs Morris dancers; he said that;
“David Cameron was having a coffee and we saw him and just asked if he would have a picture taken. “We dance in the style of Border Morris, and we black our faces because farm laborers who were out of work in the winter months would go around begging, performing a dance in return for money. “They blacked their faces with soot because it was illegal to beg and they didn't want to be recognized. It was a disguise, in the same way that the leader of the troupe wears a top hat and is called the squire to take the mickey out of the local squire.
“It’s not racist and offence is never taken. People from other cultural backgrounds don’t see it as that at all. We have had an Arab person dancing with us in the past - it’s not seen as racist.”
In spite of all the explanations so far, so many people especially historians insist that the real roots of the custom is racist. One of the musical key players at the Banbury Folk Festival by names Caroline Watsham, says;
“I was out playing my saw and someone came and said have you seen Big Dave is here?
“I thought they were talking about some giant of the folk world but it turns out it was David Cameron. He was having a cup of coffee nearby and paid a visit.”
While a strong stalwart of the Labour Party candidate whose names are Will Straw, sent a controversial message on twitter by making a photo pose with with people that seem to cover their faces in blacks which is similar to this group in this festival. Mr Will Straw in his words said that whoever that criticizes him as fueling racism by having the pose with Brittanica Coconut group is 'an ignorant person'
And the question here now is should association with some group of people all because of their looks in a festival breed racism after all?
