L-R; Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo and Incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan
An Anglican Bishop in the Okigwe Ecclesiastical Province, Rt. Rev. Dr. Edward Osuegbu, has condemned in totality former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo's incessant criticisms on President Goodluck Jonathan.
The cleric stated that Obasanjo who was once the leader of this country shrouded corruption in the highest places even more than him [Goodluck] is doing at this time.
He said this attitude of Obasanjo does not spell him good before the entire Nigerians, since is an elderly stateman, ho should have used his wisdom to work for the peace of the nation, rather then dwelling on destructive criticism of the government that he was instrumental to its abysmal state.
He further affirmed that Obasanjo's claim that Jonathan is corrupt is like the kettle pronouncing the pot black, because Obasanjo is as corrupt as Jonathan, to an extent even more. So it wouldn't be good having him slander the President, maybe because he does not play to his antics of godfatherism of seeking advice from him at every decision he makes.
According to the words of the Bishop Osuegbu,“Some of us who have been watching for many years now, know that it is the kettle calling the pot black. Obasanjo did similar things he is accusing the incumbent of and even worse”.
The cleric said that Obasanjo's criticism of the President Goodluck administration is only aimed at destroying the nation, and thereby making him appear as weak and a mediocre because as an elder statesman, this is not the appropriate way and tone by which a past leader can advise the incumbent.
