Federal High Court Lagos Stops Five Telecom Companies To Disband APC Text Messages #Telecom

Federal High Court Lagos

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos yesterday gave a court injunction banning the five telecom operators, Etisalat, MTN, Glo, Airtel and Visafone from restraining the All Progressive Congress (APC) to continue the dissemination of its Presidential election fund-raising campaign through SMS Code 35350.

The court therefore ordered them not to act as being partisan as against the directives given to them by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, and henceforth charged them to restore all avenues through which the APC can continue its sms process via the stated code.

APC on its own part stated that the sms access is supposed to run until February 12, when all election campaigns is scheduled to come to end which in accordance with the INEC election time-table and Electoral Act.

To this end, the party is now suing the aforementioned telecom operators for N25 billion as damages for the violations of the fundamental rights of APC .
