L-R; Suleiman Abba and Speaker of House of Reps Aminu Tambuwal
The Speaker House of Representatives 'Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal' has made a request to the High Court sitting in Abuja, that the Inspector General of Police 'Suleiman Abba' be sent to prison for failing to appear before the court of of competent jurisdiction as was commanded.
The Speaker in his statement, said that it was a contempt of court order on the side of the IG, because it is obvious he has made a mockery of the honourable court and as such must be punished.
The Speaker through his counsel, 'Latif Fagbemi SAN, therefore called on' Justice Ahmed Ramat Muhammed, who is the presiding judge over the case filed by the Speaker against the IG for abuse of his person and impeding him from exercising his constitutional duties.
This is due to the act put up by men of the Police against the meeting of the House of Representative members last week which resulted to a show down between the security officials and some members of the lower chamber, where teargas canisters were seen thrown by the police to prevent the Speaker from gaining access into the Assembly chambers for a scheduled session.
Meanwhile, Justice Ahmed Ramat Muhammed, has deferred the case for further till December 1st, being Monday next week.
