INEC Says Introduction Of Card Reader Into Nigeria's Electoral Sector Will Avert Rigging #2015Elections

INEC's Ballot Box for 2015 general elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday stated that a very refined and organised strategy has been put in place to ensure that elections in the country shall be free and fair.

INEC stated this through INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Enugu, Professor Chukwuemeka Onukaogu, that the recent introduction of the Card Reader into the system shall reform the whole process and as well eliminate any act of rigging and malpractices that may bring insanity within the Nigeria's electoral sphere.

Prof. Chukwuemeka averred that this time, no more shall votes be inflated or deflated by any means possible, because this card reader will only read voters card that has a unique code embedded in it.

That is to say that the card reader is programmed to record the number of registered voters in a particular polling unit, which will then ensure that no unit provides more votes than the actual number recorded by the machine at the time of registration.
