Oscar Pistorious A Para-Olympian Sprinter From South Africa Was Sentenced To 5-Years In Prison For The Murder Of His Girlfriend ‎"Reeva Steenkamp"

Oscar-Pistorius sentenced to 5-years in prison by Judge Masipa in South Africa

The report reaching to Ymzonline blog has it that the renowned South African Para-Olympian sprinter "Oscar Pistorious"  who was convicted earlier on following the series of evidence presented to the court sitting in South Africa that he killed his girlfriend '"Reeva Steenkamp"" had now on Tuesday sentenced to 5-years in prison by "Judge Thokozile Masipa".

Pistorius was also handed a 3-year suspended sentence on a separate gun offence conviction, while the the major reason for him being sentenced to the said 5-year jail term was on 'Count one charge' that is pronounced as Culpable homicide as was stated by the deciding judge.

Judge Masipa also said that he wanted to look for a balance between retribution, deterrence and rehabilitation, thereby dismissing the claims that the disabled athlete would face some sort of hardtime in the prison yard.

In her words, Justice Masipa says thus;

It would be a sad day for this country if an impression were to be created that there was one law for the poor and disadvantaged and another for the rich and famous".

She further said "“Yes the accused is vulnerable, but he also has excellent coping skills".

This is quite saddening that a disabled athlete would do this dastardly act, well, whether it was on self defence or otherwise, the court's verdict has proved it all wrong. This will serve as a deterrent to other disables out there who feel that with their physical disabilities, they can do anything without being questioned or prosecuted
