Olusegun Obasanjo Slammed National Assembly , Says It Is Swathing Degeneracy

Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo

One time Military President and the first democratically elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo'  has blasted the National Assembly on its sleazy attitudes  towards the discharge of assigned duties to the Nigerian citizenry.

The former President in his address at the public exhibition of  “The Story Of My Two Worlds; Challenges, Experiences And Achievements”  which is a book written by Justice Akanbi, who is the pioneer chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission [ICPC], bemoaned that it's very unfortunate that NASS has swathed degeneracy through its impervious budget, and this has marred its sovereignty towards scrutinizing the executive.

He reproached the President Goodluck Jonathan-led executive of carrying out direct remunerations to the NASS to cloak its atrocities.

He said it's very disheartening that depravity has eaten deep into every segment of Nigeria's state life.

In his exact words "“Apart from shrouding the remunerations of the National Assembly in opaqueness and without transparency, they indulge in extorting money from departments, contractors and ministries in two ways", the ex President said.
