Nigerian Navy on security patrol in the Niger Delta waterways against electoral violence

The Nigerian military has deployed troops of soldiers to the Port Harcourt city to prevent any suspected violence over the postponement of the general elections by Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

Also, in the same vein, the Navy has secured the Niger Delta's waterways against any violent acts following that may ensue within that region during and after the 2015 polls in the country.

The New Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral, Henry  Babalola, in Port Harcourt, he assured Nigerians of peaceful conduct of elections, which will be devoid of ballot box snatching or any form of electoral violence, because the Navy is putting all machineries on ground to guard against such acts.

Following his statement through Vanguard News, he stated that “The dictates of standard operating procedures guarding military operations. We will standby to assist INEC to provide security to transport electoral materials to riverine areas, when we are called upon.”
